INSTAGRAM REELS, STORIES, LIVES & FEED POSTS: GUIDE FOR BUSINESSES

Instagram Reels, Stories, Lives, & Feed Posts: Guide for Businesses

Instagram has approximately 1.44 billion monthly active users as of July 2022. When users post strategically, Instagram's unique algorithm allows businesses to gain attention. You can create and post content in the form of reels, stories, lives, and feed posts. This blog will discuss content strategies and provide examples to use for each of these.

How to Go Viral on Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels are one-minute videos that can be viewed by your followers or any Instagram user worldwide. Reels are a goldmine for increasing followers and converting them into leads. Instagram's algorithm displays Reels to each user based on the type of content that user typically views. Assume you own a career services company. In this case, the unique algorithm will display your Instagram Reels to users who are possibly looking for work

People who view your Reels may not have heard of you or your brand. You should post Reels that introduce you, provide a summary, or provide value.

Here are six different types of content you can share on Instagram Reels:
  • Introduce yourself or your brand
  • Post short tutorials
  • Repost your TikToks
  • Give a sneak peek of an upcoming product
  • Make how-to videos
  • Highlight your products

What to Post as Instagram Stories

Instagram Stories can be any unique photo or video, or a repost of another Reel/Feed Post. Stories appear at the top of your followers' feeds, but they only last 24 hours. You can, however, save these stories to your profile as highlights and showcase your resources.

Since Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours, they are great for reinforcing something that has already been posted. Posting your Reels and Feed Posts onto your Story is a great strategy to increase engagement rates. Another great strategy is to share other business owners' content on your page. This opens the door for networking opportunities and shows your support for your community.

Instagram Stories

For stories that you want to permanently keep on your profile, here are nine ideas for highlight covers:
  • Products/Services
  • Blogs
  • Books/Publications
  • Q&A
  • Testimonials
  • Your Story
  • About Us
  • Upcoming Events
  • Contact Us

Tips on Hosting Instagram Lives

Instagram Lives

Instagram includes a live feature that allows you to talk to your followers directly. Your followers can ask you questions and interact with you by posting comments in the chat box. Another great networking opportunity is Instagram's joint live feature. You and another business owner can join a live together to host a Q&A or informative session.

Instagram Lives are great to connect with your audience on a more personal level while also building brand reputation. It's fine to promote your products and services during Lives, but don't be too pushy.

Here are five topics to discuss or demonstrate during your Instagram Lives:
  • Live Q&A
  • Use it to make big announcements
  • Educate: teach your viewers something
  • Show BTS of your products
  • Hold live demos

What to Post as Instagram Feed Posts

Instagram Feed

Instagram Feed Posts are the original type of posts that Instagram started off with. You can post photos or videos as Feed Posts, but it is preferable to post videos as Reels. In your feed, you can post videos of up to ten minutes in length, so if you want to post a longer video, Feed Posts is the way to go. Videos posted as Feed Posts, on the other hand, only reach your followers, whereas Reels can reach thousands or millions of users. So, if at all possible, try to keep your clips under a minute long!

Consider your Instagram Feed Posts to be the social media equivalent of a newsletter subscription. Every time you post a photo or video to your feed, your followers will see it. You will lose followers if you post too frequently or constantly promote your products. A key strategy is to occasionally post about your products/services, but otherwise to post free tips and resources.

Here are seven topics that you can use for Instagram Feed Posts:
  • Myth vs. Reality
  • Stats in your industry
  • Do’s vs. Don’ts
  • Instead of… Try this…
  • Avoid these mistakes
  • Motivational quotes
  • Promote your free resources (i.e. blog,
  • event, etc)
